December to April is the dry, sunny peak — book the Soufrière resorts months ahead. May to mid-June is the shoulder sweet spot: warm, green, and 20–30% cheaper. The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival (May) and Carnival (July) are worth timing around.

Getting There

From UVF it's about 1h15 to Soufrière and the Pitons, or ~1h30 north to Rodney Bay. Some regional flights use the small George F. L. Charles (SLU) airport by Castries. Getting Around
Hire a driver, don't self-drive unless you're confident on steep, hairpin mountain roads (they drive on the left). Private transfers and guided day-drivers (~$150–200/day) are the norm and worth it. Self-driving the mountain roads
Steep hairpins, no shoulders, left-side driving. A private driver costs less stress and often less than a rental + insurance + fuel.
Expecting powdery white-sand beaches
St. Lucia's beaches are mostly golden-to-dark volcanic sand. You come for the scenery and resorts; for pure beach, look at Turks & Caicos.
Underestimating the airport transfer
UVF to Soufrière is over an hour. Book a transfer in advance and don't schedule a tight dinner your arrival night.

Where should I stay for the Piton views?

Is St. Lucia good for a honeymoon?
