Best Time to Visit
May to October is the dry season and the best window — sunny, less humid, calm lagoon (and peak prices July–August). November to April is the wet, warmer season with higher humidity and occasional heavy showers, but greener scenery and better value. The lagoon is swimmable year-round; aim for the shoulder months (May–June, September–October) for the best mix of weather and price.

Getting There
Fly into Tahiti (PPT) first — from Toronto that's a long haul via Los Angeles or San Francisco on Air Tahiti Nui or French Bee (~16–20h+). From Papeete, a 50-minute Air Tahiti flight to Bora Bora (BOB) lands on a motu airstrip, then your resort meets you for a boat transfer across the lagoon. Many travellers overnight in Tahiti or add Moorea to break up the journey.
Getting Around
By boat — resorts on the outer motus run shuttles to Vaitape, the main village. On the main island you can rent a car, scooter, or bike to circle it (~30 km) and reach Matira Beach, the only real public beach. But most of your time is on your resort motu and the lagoon, reached by the resort's boats and excursion operators. There's no need for a car if you're staying on a motu.

Too short a stay
You travel 16+ hours to get here — three nights barely covers the jet lag. Give Bora Bora at least four or five nights, ideally paired with Moorea or Tahiti.
Not booking overwater villas early

Expecting nightlife
