Getting There
Fly into Kahului (OGG) — direct from YVR on WestJet/Air Canada (5h45), or via SEA/LAX from YYZ (10h total). From OGG: rental car is essential (book months ahead in peak — they sell out). Resort shuttles work for non-driving trips but limit you.
Getting Around
Rental car (essential). Maui has no real transit. Pre-book at OGG 2–4 months ahead — rentals sell out and prices double in peak. The Hana Highway has narrow one-lane bridges; SUV not required but a small car drives easier. Avoid driving Hana road after dark.

Yes — sunrise viewing requires a reservation ($1) booked 60 days ahead at recreation.gov. It's -1 to 5°C at the summit (3,055m). Pack winter clothing — visitors freeze in shorts.
Snorkel — Molokini or Honolua Bay?
Molokini (crescent crater 5km offshore, boat-only) for clarity + variety. Honolua Bay (West Maui shore) for less crowded + free + reef sharks. Both are good. Avoid winter at Honolua (big surf).
